This Code applies to everyone taking part in any FYGN programme, summit or event: delegates, ambassadors, staff, volunteers, speakers and guests. It applies at the venue, in Event accommodation, on excursions, in our online community, and in any official communication. FYGN events welcome participants from age 16, so some participants are minors, and everyone shares responsibility for keeping the environment safe.
Our commitment
FYGN is committed to a respectful, inclusive and safe environment for all participants, regardless of nationality, culture, religion, gender, ability or background.
What we expect from you
- Show respect to all nationalities, cultures and beliefs.
- Be inclusive, courteous and constructive in discussion and disagreement.
- Respect others' privacy, safety and personal boundaries.
- Comply with venue rules, public-decency standards and host-country laws at all times.
- Follow the lawful instructions of FYGN staff, chaperones, moderators, venue staff and excursion operators, especially on safety.
- Behave responsibly during official sessions and outside scheduled activities.
What is not allowed
The following are not tolerated, in person or online:
- Harassment, bullying, intimidation or aggressive behaviour.
- Discrimination, hate speech or abuse based on any personal characteristic.
- Sexual harassment, unwanted sexual attention, or any sexual conduct involving a minor.
- Threats, violence, or encouragement of violence or self-harm.
- Sharing others' personal or private information without consent.
- Illegal, obscene or defamatory content or conduct.
- Spam, scams, advertising or solicitation not authorised by FYGN.
- Impersonation, or attempts to bypass moderation, age controls or account security.
- Possession or use of illegal substances, or any conduct that endangers others.
The online community
Our community runs inside the FYGN platform and uses your FYGN sign-in. Its minimum age is 16, confirmed when you join, and this Code applies online exactly as it does in person. By taking part you agree that:
- Moderators may act to keep the space safe: hiding or removing messages, muting or removing participants, and deciding join requests. Moderation decisions and reports are recorded for safety and accountability (see the Privacy Notice).
- You can report a message directly from the message itself (spam, harassment, inappropriate, off-topic, or other), or raise anything by email to info@fygn.org.
- An AI assistant takes part in a limited way. It writes room summaries and may post short notes into a room. Everything it writes is labelled as AI-generated, may be incomplete or inaccurate, and should be verified independently; do not rely on it as advice. Rooms can have the assistant switched off, and you can mute it for yourself in your community preferences.
- Articles you publish are public. Write nothing you would not put your name to, and nothing that breaches section 3.
Safeguarding and minors
The safety of young people is a priority. Participants under 18 attend only with the parental consent process described in the Parental / Guardian Consent Notice, and FYGN maintains appropriate supervision and safeguarding arrangements during events, on excursions and in the community. If you have a safeguarding concern at any time, contact a FYGN staff member, chaperone or moderator immediately, or email info@fygn.org. Concerns are handled as confidentially as is reasonably possible, consistent with our safeguarding and legal obligations; where the safety of a minor is involved, we may need to contact parents, guardians or the relevant authorities.
Reporting and response
Raise concerns with any FYGN staff member, chaperone or moderator in person, through the community's reporting tools, or by email to info@fygn.org. We review reports promptly and take proportionate action.
Consequences of breaching this Code
Depending on the seriousness of the breach, we may issue a warning, restrict your participation or community access, remove you from an event or activity without refund, or exclude you from future FYGN programmes. Serious matters may be reported to the relevant authorities.
